    Paolo:

Interesting pose. Is he eating something while flying? It almost looks like a pair of dragonfly wings in the rear foot.

It looks as if the bird was originally a bit underexposed, and then brought up in post. I would normally expect some + compensation would be required in this circumstance, dark bird against the sky.

There is also a fairly strong halo around the bird from sharpening or shadow work.

If you have the time, you might want to post the original file in this same thread so we can see what you started with.

    Cheers

    Randy

Looks like an interesting behavioural shot.

I agree with Randy on all points, but just wanted to ask about the crop.

When you say a 2MP crop, do you mean you have cropped down to 2MP. If so, I think this is causing many of the problems in this image as the resolution is just not there. I stay above a 8MP final image size when cropping from my 7D.

    Ben:

Excellent point about the crop. Probably not enough IQ to work with because of the crop.

    Paolo:

Thanks for the posting the original file. Just too much of a crop to get a quality image out I am afraid.

    Cheers

More a behavioral image than technically perfect but I do find the behavior interesting. Pretty bird, I am not familiar with a Hobby.

agree with Randys comments, for you Mike.some hobbys come here to the uk in summer to breed, they catch dragon flies on the wing and eat them on the wing ,as this one is doing, they are also quite capable of and do,catch hiudines, sandmartins swallows swifts, they are very fast, and I have seen this here in the Northwest of England.thanks.PS I dont mean they eat hiundines on the wing.thanks.
