    Hi There

Portrait shot of "Avon" one of the Barn Owls at HCT. This shot was taken just a couple of minutes after the shot that i posted a while back here.

This was using my 1DMKIIN so the high ISO performance is not as good as the MKIII. The light was very overcast and the owl was towards the back of her enclosure and i was at minimum focus distance on the 500mm (4.5 metres - 15 feet)

Overall I like the feel of the image, almost a bit like a painting... and using a wide aperture you can't really tell its shot through a 1" mesh.

Hopefully Lana will approve.... as its a Barn Owl and a dark background..:)

Wow.....Barn Owl and dark BG......it just doesn't get any better than that.....well....unless it was mine!! I am so fascinated with Barn Owls and I'm enjoying every pixel of this one. Such an excellent job of shooting through mesh in dark surroundings. I always like to have as much of the bird sharp as possible but this one works so well with just the head sharp.......right where it's needed. I believe that I could look into the eyes of this owl all night. Ya 'done good with this one!!!

Stunning as presented, maybe a little more room around if I wanted to be nit picking. Congratulation's on a fine image :)
