    Saw a small group of these at a local golf course pond, they have not been there previously so I took a few shots....

    Doing a search on the Internet and looking through my books it certainly looks like one..The plate below is from my a bird guide from Europe...could be a young one though?

    Do think this is just an exotic species someone released?

    I don't know another explanation for why a group of them would be migrating through central Kentucky.

    I looked at the Kentucky Ornithological Society site and could find no mention of them.

    I'm sure this is the correct ID, I found an image and a short article at wikipedia as well.

    They are all over Europe:

    It could be a farm bird gone wild...you see some strange things out there...
    Here's one I found a few years back..this has a bit of everything in it...duck and goose..

    It definitely looks like an Egyptian gooseI am not sure that the bird would be migrating up from Florida, where it is taking hold, so this must be a flock that either escaped or someone released into the wild. Escaping or releasing, neither is good, but at least a bird that escapes was not set free by a person
