    Mital,

Great BG sharpness and exposure. I don't actually like the pose. I think you are missing a lot with this pose. It looks like a very interesting species and a full side view of the head and comb would be great.

    Well captured though and TFS

Thanks Mital for your kind words and the 7D plug :) I am hoping that I do not have to be dead to have an image dedicated to me! I love the bird and like the image. Sweet BKGR. Once I got the monitor tilted right as per the calibration strip, the nice detail in the BLACKs was revealed. The duck needed to turn its head one degree more toward you, maybe even a bit less, as the right eye is a bit larger than the left eye. Still, it is looking pretty much right at you. You have been posting some great stuff in several forums; it is great to see you back.

Artie, I do not understand this:

"Once I got the monitor tilted right as per the calibration strip, the nice detail in the BLACKs was revealed."

I did a search of this site, but could not get the explanation I need. Please explain exactly what you do to get the "monitor tilted right as per the calibration strip" and how that would help here.

    Thanks,
    Wendell

WW, At the bottom of each BPN page, there is a calibration strip. Whenever you work on a computer with an LCD monitor, it is important that you adjust the angle of the monitor so that you can distinguish the tones in the last two boxes on the right--the two lightest boxes, and you can--at the same time-distinguish the tones in the last two boxes on your left, the two darkest boxes. Once that is done you cab be sure that you will be seeing the light tones and the dark tones correctly. I check the calibration strips dozens of times each day as your posture and the lighting conditions in the room will effect the appearance of the strip....

Exposure looks good with nice details. Head on view gives a different perspective on this duck that is usually seen in profile. I would crop a little from below to eliminate some of the chopped stumps and maybe add a little above. BG is superb , matching the iridescence as it does.
