    Mike:

The overcast really served you well here, with lovely, soft light. Excellent exposure on the whites, with nice detail retained in the feathers and snow.
Wish she was gazing a bit more towards you so both eyes showed.

I am guessing this is a first year female, but appreciate your input on the age of the bird.
Makes me cold just looking at it!

    Look forward to more.

I remember the snowy owls posted on this site during your previous winter, and dream of getting an image like this. I like the wintery mood, and good to see how the eye stands out so well.

Stunning bird. Exposure and details is spot on with good colours and comp.

Yes to beautiful bird, good EXP, nice soft light and the excellent sharpness. No to the habitat = a bunch of scraggly bushes.

Mike, I tried twice to answer a question that you asked in a recent post of mine--the Mute Swan, but you never returned.

Thanks for the positive comments. In regards to the scraggly bushes I agree for the most part. I have countless files with snowys against barren landscapes but threw this up as it's something a little different.

I will look at the mute swan post and apologize for not getting back on that. Work demands haven't afforded me much BPN time of late. Taking off in a few to chase Igor up the coast for surfing shots tomorrow :D.

Love the snowie. Agree with above that the exposure and detail is very nice. Also agree that the comp and lighting make the image. But, for me, this is the habitat of the snowie (other than utility poles:D)
Scrubland is mainly where I always find - and the scrub bushes are normally what are in the shot.
