I like the pose, intense stare. For me, since the story is down below the gull, based on his gaze, I might favor a bit more room below and less above the gull.
I might see if I could tease a bit more detail out of the whites on the neck and tail.
Good focus, Michael. Agree with Randy about more room below - I would probably crop to try and eliminate the green in the BG and add below if available.
I like the pose and the position of the feet. Adding canvas below would be difficult at best.... EXP is good, the light uneven. Lastly, the bird's head is angled slightly away from the viewer.
