New to BPN hope I do this right. An intentional blur of Black-capped Chickadee taking flight from perch. Shutter speed was 1/60 sec. Look forward to comments.

Big welcome to BPN and a very big welcome to OOTB! I think you'll like our group. There are some wonderful photographers posting here in OOTB If you have any questions please feel free to send a private message to me or Kerry Perkins.:)
Wonderful first post. The takeoff was nicely captured. I think a bit more definition around the eye would be nice but the blur still has a lot of appeal. A tiny bit tight in the frame. Very beautiful BG and the feet look cool!
Andrew,
Greetings & welcome. I like the movement in the image and the color palette... could use a little noise reduction (and there is a jpeg artifact (?) upper right corner just past wing blur).
Looking forward to seeing more...
Cheers,
-Michael-
Welcome Andrew...I am from a little suburb of Ottawa . Nice first post..you will like it here, lots of good info ...
Hi Andrew- Always a pleasure to welcome a fellow Canadian to BPN!!
This is a lovely blur with a lot of interest. The various arcs traced by the wings are very attractive. I think pretty well anything goes for a crop but I agree a little more room would be useful. There is quite a strong blue cast to the image but again, I think pretty well anything goes for an image like this. However, I've taken the liberty of correcting the cast so that the cheek whites are neutral in LAB colour (A=0, B=0), and this is what you get!
Forgot to mention I also ran some NR over the whole image. If the subject were sharp I would have masked it out before running the NR.

Love the image and John's handling of the blue cast. Like Denise, I would have liked to have seen more room all around (especially above) and the head better defined. But I do love the high degree of blur and the fact that the bird is angled slightly towards us.

Thanks to all who have commented thus far. Appreciate the critiques. I love what John has done to tone down the blue cast. Thanks again to all.
Andrew, welcome to OOTB! I love the blur (you'll find a lot of them here:)). John's repost is nice also. I hope you post lots more.

There are many ways to do the colour correction Andrew. Here's one:

Hi Andrew, big BPN welcome from the night crew! Thanks so much for posting in OOTB, I'm looking forward to many more. I really like the furious motion you have captured with your blur. Very nicely done. John has corrected the color nicely. Would be great to have an eye in there, but I like this one a lot.
