    My hibiscus bloomed again, so I tried a different approach.

    Canon 7D
    Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro
    Canon 430EX + Diffuser

    1/100 sec f/3.5 ISO 640

    Crop, S/H, Sharpening in CS5

    Ian, the concept is good but it looks like you needed just a tiny bit more DOF to get all of those little hairs in focus. If you can try this again with a slightly smaller aperture you'll end up with a fantastic shot. If that causes the BG to be more in focus, you can easily blur it.

    Hey Ian,
    I'm with Ken on this one.....just get a touch more DOF on the hairs......I like the falloff everywhere else!
