    Congratulations Susan!!

    Photographed this last May. This male Eastern Bluebird lost his mate about a week and half before the chicks fled. He did a great job all by himself of taking care of his chicks while battling various Tree Swallows that were trying to take over the nest. It was a great experience for me to be able to witness such beauty in nature.
    Canon MIII - 600mm - ISO 1250 - 1/4000 sec - f/8.0
    I kept my distance in order to not cause any stress to them. I cropped the image approx. 30%. basic adjustments and applied NR. There was also a dark area on the top that I removed in pp.

    Great photograph! It really captures a stunning moment that you just can't appreciate without capturing it in a still shot. Were you observing this nest throughout the entire nesting season? Keep track of this location nest year, 30% of Eastern Bluebirds return to their nesting site in subsequent years! This years chicks may remain close to their natal territory as well! Have fun!
