Nothing fancy here, just a composite using Topaz ReMask to rescue the tern from a busy bg, then Topaz Simplify for the sky. Adjusted the color balance of the bird layer to more closely match that of the sky. I added canvas on the left and the top, as the full-frame capture was a bit tight. Nik Color Efex Pro was used for the vignette.

Good job Kerry-did an excellent job selecting the tern. Although the BG colors are excellent, I would have gone more for a blur, especially in the lower right area where there are edges that don't seem right-of course that is just my opinion. Regards~Bill

Beautiful composition, Kerry. Love the wing spread and the spectacular bg. Nice work with remask. it is amazing tool. My only suggestion would be to darken the white cloud patch on the lower right.

Kerry, Excellent selection and the sky color is awesome. I see Bill and Indranil's points and I could go either way.:)

Hi Kerry, I also really like this composite. The tern is perfectly placed in the frame and really stands out from the beautiful colors of the BG.

Excellent. I would have like to see the whiter area in the RLQ in the LUQ to seem if the sun was going to beam out at the tern

I agree with Christopher as to the pose and a good cutout job; the bird looks like it belongs there and the sky is gorgeous!

I love it but for the red cast in the whites. Use Selective Color to reduce it and then Denise's Painting On the Effect trick with Hue Saturation to finish the job. Then I boosted the blacks a bit in Selective Color. Those who missed her tip can find it in BAA Bulletin #337 here.
