Been a while since I posted in Avian...sorry about that :o
This was taken from a small boat on a pond close to the boundary of the famous Kruger Park.
The MK was baited with a small fish taken from the same water system. Quite happy with this given how fast these guys move.
Techs:
Canon 7D with 100-400mm L IS USM
f5.0 @ 1/2500 SS @ ISO-500
This is a very large crop as I wasn't really ready for this little one as he came rocketing in from the side. Focal length was 115mm here, subject distance about 4m from me
Morkel, they are small and fast and you did well considering. The large crop did hurt the IQ here but its a good keeper for now. The catch adds interest ;)
It's been too long Morkel! Good to see you posting again! Love the action captured! Impressive to get a KF at 4 meters. Since the bird is rising, I might place it slightly lower in the frame.
thanks for the kind comments everyone - yes IQ has suffered but I hope for a better one next time :) just liked the angle here, how's that for AF tracking on fast incoming birds on a 7D...;)
