The Pel's Fishing Owl is a huge owl (bigger than a Horned Owl) that lives in the fringes of tropical rivers in Africa, where it hunts for fish at night. It is strictly nocturnal - I was fortunate to obtain this image from a boat in the Okavango Delta.

How wonderful is thisl Chris and how fortunate to have had the opportunity to capture it since it is nocturnal. Beautiful lighting and excellent detail and I love the inquisitive look on his face. Well done !! Congratulations !
Well done and certainly nocturnal. What flash technique and setting did you use? How did you frame and focus? I would have preferred that you had pointed the lens up just a bit (i.e. wish for a bit more room at the top).
Did you have to fix red eye? Lastly, what color are the eyes?

I used -1 flash exposure with Better Beamer. Focus was achieved with the help of a spotlight from the pilot of the boat. I used the red eye tool in PS to fix the eyes. The eyes are very dark brown almost black.
Thanks for the additional info Chris. You might try lightening the iris just until you can see a hint of the dark brown color.
