in sequence to my yesterday's image this one is full frame showing cub in front and mom in back. there was no space left for me to adjust to bypass those tree trunks on side ways and even the middle oof stick which later i loved because it was naturally the part of that pure jungle feel. can be an easy fix to remove but kept.

Two sets of eyes both looking in the same general direction and a simple BG bring the focus on the lion cub and the mom to create a powerful mood and image. I plan to visit Gir in February 2011 and hope to see/photograph the lions.

Mital - beautiful shot of the pair. I like the comp of this and the low perspective.

    Mital,

Good work using your limited space to make this compelling image. In the future when conditions permit I would try to juxtapose without a merge of the two subjects - but you probably know that since you mentioned your limited movement potential in the OP. Thanks for posting.

I respectfully disagree. The merge here I believe is more powerful than having a simple separated juxtaposition. But I do have a suggestion for Mital-bhai: if you could have moved 2-3 inches to the right so that the ear of the cub did not intersect with the mom's nose this would have been many times more powerful, and as presented it is plenty powerful. Where is Sasan Gir Forest?

Art bhai,, was hoping your suggestion on this for sure and gotcha here we got. Sasan Gir is in south-east of Junagadh in Gujarat. I think the fact is i need to adjust myself with mammals first to think something before making image. cuz that was my first experience with wild cat and took images from ground ..

Me too. Juxtaposition makes this into a regular image. IMO merger made this into a wonderful composition.

Sid, this is a type of juxtaposition image, just a fraction too tight on the line up of the two, but still very powerful. Total separation with the animals apart would have been very different but possibly wonderful so perhaps I was too harsh with Robert A above. Sorry RAM :)

My pleasure. How did you come to be out of the vehicle? Was it dangerous? Heck, I had no idea that there were lions in Asia. Thanks for the park info.

BTW, I should have mentioned that moving the 2 or 3 inches to the right would have reduced the effect of the o-o-f stuff in the lower left corner. If you ever print this, you could get rid of the two leaf stems (???) that are sticking up from the bottom.

Again, this is a wonderful, powerful image.

Mital, please accept my deepest apology.
For some reason or the other I got totally mixed up.

Again, I'm deeply sorry for the mix up

I'm with Artie -- I had no idea there were lions in Asia. After seeing this image, I went and googled to read about this.

Anyway, I like the image very much. A bit of motion to move that cub's ear would have been ideal, but I think it's very strong as it stands.

Great image, I might try to take a little from the LHS to minimise the darker area.
