Default small plane and camera equipment

Will be traveling on an Embraer rj145 for part of our trip to SD. what do you suggest that I use to make sure I can get most of my camera equipment on the plane. dslr, tamron 200-500, tamron 18-250, plus back up camera also.

believe they check rolling suitcases as you board, but what can I use to carry on the camera etc.? anyone had any experience with this?

    thanks

Wear a photographers jacket and stuff as much as possible into the large pockets. I use this technique to get over my carry-on allowance with airlines that have low limits. If you manage to get the bag on as well, you can transfer things back to the bag once you are sure you are in the clear. Of course there are limits to the maximum size but check if you can hand carry a camera and lens without a bag - a lot of rules say you can although I am sure they don't intend a 3 foot lens on a pro body !

    Joan,

If this a regional that you are flying, they might let you gate check it. In those cases you can bring it right to the tarmac and ask the handlers to hand load it carefully. I have done that a few times with my Think Tank Airport Security.
