I wanted to emphasize those spikes on the abdomen of this fly. I changed the gradient and then used curves. I see all these dark speckles on the fly. Are these distracting and should they be removed?
C & C very welcome.

Nancy, Very cool looking! This is a great look for the fly. I might evict the one bright spot to the right of the fly if it were mine. I think I would remove just a couple of the black spots. The gradient worked out really well here. :)
Unique x-ray view, Judy. Agree that maybe a few black specks could go. The lighter ones are just freckles. Love it! :)
Very cool! I don't know how you got that x-ray look but I like it.
Nancy, This is really cool looking. And I like the color you chose. Nice job.

Love the x-ray effect to this, Nancy. Too cool! :) Excellent detail in the fly. Would be nice if you could have gotten both wings in sharp focus, but no biggie.
Nice one Nancy, I like it! Really cool other-worldly look with the z-ray light. I love the detail on that upper wing.

Spikes certainly accentuated. I quite like the little spots but would tone down the bright one in front of the fly. I find the blue a little overpowering, but I think that is more because I'm working in desaturated tones at present and it does affect the way you see other colours. Very interesting and effective.
Wow I've never seen anything like this before... I'm speechless!
Thank you all for your comments. The x-ray look was a surprise for me as I was experimenting with the gradient map, but I liked how it really turned the yellow flowers dark and yet highlighted the fly. Evicting that one bright spot is a good idea. Didn't notice it until I posted and then it was too late to change . For the moment I am enjoying working with a graphic, satuarated color look and as soon as I get a faster computer I want to load all those cool plug-ins that I see others using :p.
Nancy this is cool! It reminds me of one of those shots of something incredibly tiny taken with a microscope. :)
