    Default 3 week old loon

The loon chick is being deserted by its parent. ;) Just joking because the parent kept going down to get food for the chick.
I am not thrilled with the tree out of frame to the right which is giving the water a different color reflection.

I like the colors in the water...Looks over sharpened and would like to see more of the back bird

    Allan:

I think this image is held back by the adult submerging. As part of a series, it would be fine, but as a stand alone image, I don't find it works well for me. I have seen this behaviour a lot, but from a story telling standpoint, I think it needs more of the adult showing, or the chick in front, and the adult in back.
Nice colors in the water, brown does not bother me.

    Cheers

    Randy

I like the concept and here all images must stand alone :) I am with Peter in that the white strip bugs me a lot more than the tree REFL.... And yes to a bit over-SH.

Totally agree on that white streak. Don't know how I did not notice it myself.

Agree that images should stand alone. I have several of chicks by themselves; I just thought this one was different. I should have asked, "Does this one work"?

That's one of the things that I best love about BPN: having seven others point out something obvious that I just did not see.

How is the sharpening on this one? I ask because I was trying something new and it seems it was less than successful. :D

Got rid of the white streak.

    Any other thoughts.

Everything still looks good to me and I am the guy who has liked this one from the start :)

I think that it needs a smidgen of CW rotation. I like the that the chick is peeking over the adult's back. Neat image.
