Here's a Great Egret hanging out in some seagrass at lowtide. The shadows were getting a little stronger (shot about 1.5 hrs after sunrise), but I think it turned out reasonably well:
Shooting Mode Aperture-Priority AE
Tv( Shutter Speed ) 1/1000
Av( Aperture Value ) 5.6
Metering Mode Partial Metering
AE lock ON
Exposure Compensation +1
ISO Speed 400
Focal Length 400.0 mm

Ian, this appears to be a Snowy Egret, not a Great. The black bill, yellow lores, and yellow trim on the back of the legs are all characteristic of the Snowy. Can't see the feet, but I bet they're yellow too.
Peter - thank you for the nice comments, and John - I think you're right. I was thinking the same thing after I posted this the other night and after checking my other photos of the day, I see the tell-tale yellow feet. Thanks for catching my mistake!
