Charlie is a rescue dog from the humane society. All we know is that he was owned by someone in the Armed Forces who also had a wife and a new baby. We suspect Charlie was given up because the owner was deployed and the wife could not handle a dog as well as a new baby. Charlie most likely was kept in a concrete floored kennel outdoors. When we adopted him he did not know how to jump in a car, did not know grass under his feet, did not know how to climb stairs, and did not know anything about doggie treats. But he was a fast learner. Now 4 years later Charlie's favorite things are walks here in the mountains and meetin' and greetin' people. One of my favorite stories is at a hwy. rest stop Charlie approached 2 homeless guys with the typical bottle in a paper bag. Charlie greeted them like long-lost friends and the guys were just thrilled. Charlie loves everyone :):). And he is of course, a true joy to have.
Yes, he is a shepherd mix. Most likely German Shepherd and Australian Shepherd but with the personality of a Golden Retriever. Whatever, he is a great boy!
