The action this week in South Florida has been dismal. Green Cay was dead as was Anhinga Trail. However, late afternoon at Green Cay the colony of spoons which it seems have taken to nesting there this year made an appearance near the pineland bridge. they were typically too far in the brush to get a clean shot but occasionally they wandered outside while looking for grubs.

I managed this one during the last minutes of sweet light. The background is not optimal, but I'll take a spoon anywhere I can get one. Most of the spoons at the Cay were juveniles, but this one's colors really did stand out and me thinks it was one of the leaders of the colony.;)

The light is gorgeous, Mike, and so is the bird.

If you're so inclined, I wish you'd clone out the hose, because everyting else is a big winner. I think it might need a few degrees of ccw rotation.

btw, I got the Teals at the north side of GC as a grab shot. It was all the 40D. I just pointed it. Amazing.
