This captive Great Horned Owl attracted alot of interest from the children at a recent bird observatory event. It was wonderful to see the kids so eager to see the owl and actually listen to the handler. I could hardly find a place to stand and photograph :p.

Hey Nancy, Nice pose and details. I like the BG and the fact that the children enjoyed the owl. I'm hoping the bird was rescued or something and that is why it is captive.:)

Thanks for sharing a nice story Nancy. My wife got to spend a few hours today photographing an educational Western Screech Owl, and she had a blast! I like the profile pose and the green BG. You came up a little short in the DOF department; I would have stopped down just a little to get more of the breast in focus.

Agree, nice BG and pose. Very intent look.

I see a cyan/blue color cast. I tried setting a white point on the brightest white on the chest using the Levels adjustment layer in PS and that correct the color cast and brightened up the image nicely. Thanks for posting and the enjoyable story.

Comp works well. Like that eye and bg. IMG is sharp and well exposed.

Since I actually had the time I should have bracketed my camera settings to get a photo with adequate DOF. Robert, I will do as you suggest to adjust the color cast. Thank you all for looking and commenting.
