    Default Sandhill Fever!

The Bosque will be starting to come to life in the coming weeks. I know this somewhat premature, but I'm starting to get a little excited! Here's a Sandhill Crane from last winter.

    Doug:

Sharp, well exposed, nice full down wing position, nice angle in frame. Like the 3D effect.
In a perfect world, I might like the background to be just slightly lower luminosity than it is now, so that the brighter areas didn't compete with the bird.

The sandhills will be starting to flock up here in Michigan in the next few weeks, so thanks for the warm up!

    Cheers

    Randy

Repost looks better to me, but I wonder what it would be like dialed down a bit more and more blur. I love the mottled backgrond but the contrast between light and dark still distracts a little, especially as the bird is wonderful.

I agree with you about BG contrast Dick. Here's a repost with a slightly darkened BG in which I also reduced contrast. BTW I did not blur the BG in the OP or in any of the reposts.

Hey Doug, excellent light, detail and sharpness on the crane, with a great flying posture. With regards to the BG, I would go with your second repost ( pane#3). Your last post in pane#6 - I feel you have lost all contrast ( on my monitor anyway )

The least one is absolutely terrific - the others weren't bad either!! The eye on the crane really does make for compelling viewing.

Great light and super sharp. The bg is a killer and the comp is strong. Like the feather details and exposure.

Beautiful Doug. I like your first repost best. The wing position and sharp details make this great.

Thanks Denise. I owe you a little Southwest hospitality after the day we spent at Barnegat this past winter; look me up when you get to Albuquerque. :)

Doug, thanks for getting the season started! I am not going to make it this year but will be back next year for sure. Excellent image as always and I prefer the original. I think it works just fine. Excellent detail, color, and composition.
