    Default Close up: Adult Common Loon

    I took this from my kayak. Several loons were curious and stalked me. :p

    Allan;

    Nice pose, low shooting angle, red eye, overall exposure control, drops. Nice to see the green showing on the neck.

    I would say the sharpening is a bit overdone, as I am seeing some fine jaggies along the edges of the neck/head, esp. noticeable on the left edge of the neck.

    This one shows the deeper central bill of the male very well.

    Cheers

    Randy

    Agree with Randy that the sharpness is just a hair over the top.

    Exposure looks great.

    I'm wondering if it could use just a touch more saturation?

    Nice! I love how we can see the texture on the white breast. Good pose and colours. Aggressive sharpening mentioned, and I would remove the extra reflections lower in the eye. IMO a bit tight in the frame, but overall quite an appealing image!!

    Will remove the extras Dan. I like the close up. I do have others where the bird is in its environment. I guess when I have several images in my mind this one isn't too tight.

    Portrait. :)
