Photo was taken in Etosha, Namibia. This beautiful bird was perching and calling out for a while, than it shook itspef and took off. Comments are welcome.

    Lorant:

Sharp, soft light with good exposure, fun 'shake' pose. Good head angle, catchlight too.

The only improvement I could see would be if the perch didn't intersect with the body, but strong as is, well captured.

    Cheers

    Randy

Beautiful image with a lot of potential Lorant. Love the pose, perch and ruffle.

On my calibrated monitor there is a significant colour cast which I have corrected here. Would be interested to know if this is how you remember the bird or does your original post look more like it.

Also think a little in contrast and saturation might help the image but didn't do that.

Neat bird (almost Osprey-ish), and as Randy says a fun shake pose and I like the ruffled feathers on the head. A bit tight in the frame IMO. I find John's repost a little too blue (altohugh I prefer the sky) - I wouldn't mind seeing a version combining the original's subject's colours with the repost's sky.

The neutral light tones in the neck of the repost are running about A = 2 (slightly warm of neutral) and B = 0 (neutral) in the LAB colour space.

Lorant, a beautiful juvi, and these Martial eagles are wonderful birds. I like the ruffled look, and the comp is fine. Great sighting.
