This image was captured this past Friday morning on Plum Island in MA.
As you can tell by the techs, there was not much light and this is the only image that I got of this bird where any part of the bird was sharp. I believe it is a White-rumped Sandpiper. Is there enough here for anyone to concur? The base of the lower mandible was a deep brownish color distinct from the rest of the bill which was black.
You were working right on the ragged edge of light here, and pulled it off very well. Nice exposure, sense of action in the body and small wave. Nice job of making lemonade under challenging conditions.
Lots to like: the great detail of the face, low angle, eye contact, the waves in the background . The only thing I would consider is crop a little off the left.
I like the sharp face along with the motion-blurred body. Good low angle, and the two small wavelets in front and behind the legs are neat. For me the FG is a bit overpowering though.
I can't be 100% sure either, but it sure looks like it could be a White-rumped...
