    Default Arctic Tern

Here is an Arctic Tern from its nesting grounds up in Churchill, Manitoba.

    All the best!

Very nice! Great wing position, head angle, fanned tail, and open bill is a real plus.
Eye gets a bit lost at this size.

I think just a hint of catchlight would put this beauty over the top.

I would try to bring out some more detail in the black, so the eye would be more visible. Very nice shot with the colors, pose and open beak.

    Glenn:

Very nice pose, esp. the flare of the tail, sharp, nice colors. Agree about the eye/blacks. Certainly worth some tweaking to see if you can bring them up just a bit.
I would judge the sharpening to be right on the edge, as there are some jaggies showing up on the margin of white and black on the leading primary.

    Cheers

    Randy

I'm sure the eye looks great full-size, but for web posting I agree a bit of tweaking to bring it out may be optimal. Other than that all I can say is WOW what a pose...I absolutely love the swooping curves and open bill! The sky is of a particularly pleasing hue...

Beautiful wing position and a superb capture overall. I'd be proud of this one. Congratulations!
Agree that tweaking the blacks and bringing out a slight bit of eye detail would make it even stronger.

    Hi Glen,
I'd be proud to have this image in my files as is. I know what it takes to get great flight shots. I'm not sure everybody does ;)

I sure did a lot of those but never had the chance to get that pose. Really nice. I agree about the eye.
