    Default Pelican of Many Colors

This image was taken at Ding Darling, on a morning when the pelicans were doing a feeding frenzy, which offered a lot of very interesting shots. It was a little more work than I expected, but ...

Modification in CS4 included; Find Edges; Invert; Vibrance & Saturation (max), Hue & Saturation. In addition I ran DAP Aquarell to give it a different look. Setting in DAP included; Palette – Impressive; slight offset toward Expressive and full offset toward Wet; Brush sizes 50/1000 with 5000 stokes; Outline – Default; Hi Res 10 Mpix; DP full Impress and full Real; Detail Brushes maximum time; Quality precision. Additional work in CS4, following the DAP processing, included; Invert and maximum Contrast adjustment, along with normal PS adjustments.

    Enjoy!

Mark, I really like the colors. They are fun and interesting. I'm not a fan of the frame-but different strokes. I do like the dark vignette around the image.

Mark, I like the way this turned out. Nice colors - it looks like it is painted on glass. Neat:)

Lovely colors and I also like the vignette. Any chance you could recover a little detail in his eye?

Mark, I love the painterly look to the pelican and the wild colors. I like how the frame picks up the color of the bird and I love the wing position captured.

Cool colors make this one for me. Does have a nice wet watercolor look to it, which I always like. Would love to have the bird coming instead of going but... ;)

Thanks all for viewing and comments. Appreciate it.

Kerry, I know what you mean about the flight path. Sometimes however, I like the full wings viewed from the back of the bird better than the front view. Just my vision. The wings opened, as in this shot, are many times majestic and not always portrayed as such in the front view. However, I fully understand the norm. Just one of those rules, which I think sometimes needs to be bent, if not cracked! ;) :D But then again ... ;)
