Sid,
I really like your image. the subject and the background is very nice.
I would not change a thing.
All the best,

Excellent composition, background and subject matter makes a beautiful image. TFS.
Hi Sid,
What time of year is this?
Though the blue/cyan color cast in the BG is natural, you could remove it if you wish. Not sure where you are at with cloning out distractions, but if you are OK with it, I would recommend the branches (not the green ones) coming in from the right be removed. If possible in the field, moving left might have gotten them out too.
Great alert look an interesting BG that does not distract. Nice work.
great "layers" created with the FG , subject and Backround!
Like the attention and habitat. Even though real light in this pic is bluish, I might have considered warming a little. Also a second image would be cropping to deer and eliminating white branches.
Interesting to photograph a Deer in Wapiti !
This is close to what I was thinking . I warmed it up but you may prefer the cool look to get the feeling of COLD, but I find some people like pics a little warmer. My patch and clone work was done quickly but gives the idea of what I was thinking for a portrait type image of the deer since he is looking intently toward you. I did no more sharpening or other changes. I could have done more warming ,but didnt want to overdo it on the repost since only an idea.

Hi Sid,
I was not trying to say this was not a great habitat photograph ,but point out that in most photographs there are other views that digital allows us to do with our images.
If I offended you I am certainly sorry but just suggesting a second image possibility.
Chas.
