Man, I wish the egret on the left was as sharp as the one on the right! Was it your intention to have the image with one in focus and one OOF in the BG? If so, I think putting it closer to the one on the right would make for a stronger presentation - moving a bit in the field to line the birds up differently would have helped. You also have a bit more room to go up in ISO - could have eeked out a bit more DOF if you were trying for two infocus birds.

As it is, though, I'd look at darkening the water behind the bird on the right - letting the 2 birds and their front reflections tell the story and clone out the rest. This will strengthen the bird in focus by placing him on an all black BG and then the parallel between the two birds will be more evident.

Hi Bob - does not quite work for me - as Jules has mentioned the second bird needs to be more in focus - now if you could have moved around to your right a bit and lined them up and then moved so that the OOF one was just offset behind the foreground one - might have worked better.
SS is a little slow for the focal length - looks reasonably sharp though. IMHO reflections aren't really strong enough to warrant inclusion - though that sort of goes against your vision for this image.
A lower shooting angle doesn't look like it was possible.
    Keep em coming :)
