I made this image of newly hatched Sandhill Crane chicks play fighting on the nest this past winter. This is from one of three nest that I was able to photograph in February and March. The chicks are one and two days old.

    Hey Jim,
Got to love those chicks. You did a great job capturing their antics. Are you coming up for hawks this fall?

Too cute. I can't imagine how you manage to get such sharp detail, hand-held @ 700mm from a boat. Lots of practice, I guess. Do you ever add a catchlight to your images? I think I see a faint hint of light in at least one of the chicks, which I might have been tempted to brighten.

    Hi JIm,

What cute little fuzz balls! I love the interaction. I also like how you captured the action with good views of both of the chicks faces. Th image is nice and sharp and the exposure looks great. Adding catch-lights to the eyes is an interesting idea however, I think this is very good as presented. Thanks for sharing.

Great interaction and a very cute duo. I like the inclusion of the nest.
