Oh, feeling reach-challenged lately, so thought I'd take a breather and change subjects. This is from a Monterey Bay Aquarium special exhibit (so not local as most of their exhibits). Challenging dealing with lighting, reflections (off the glass), and audience (trying not to whack the person next to me while panning ;))...
Monterrey Bay Aquarium - my ALLTIME favorite place to visit! I absolutely had a blast when I was there a few years ago.
Very nice job on panning - and the colors in the fish are amazing and vibrant! You've got some really light coral/marinelife in the LLC that I believe would be less distracting if you darkened them up a bit. I'd also clone the little green fish right below the body of the main fish just to keep the viewer's eye on the real prize.
You've got some clean up to do from the glass/water if you want to ever print this one. I'd magnify it to 100% and get in there with the clone and patch tool and make it happen - this is really a lovely image and would be worth the time. Same with the two very small horizontal white stripes mid-fish. Clean up the little things and this will really be lovely!
Very convincing Michael, given that the fish is in captivity! You have several things going against, not the least of which was the glass, but this is very good. I suppose a polarising filter might have worked for the reflections if you had some? Love the light and the colours. Would be nice to know wha sort of fish it is.
