Coyote (Canis latrans). Yellowstone NP. February, 2008.

It was snowing hard, and during a brief break in the weather, I had the opportunity to photograph this coyote.

    D2Xs, 80-200 mm, f/4 @ 1/500, ISO 250.

Comments and critiques are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

Nothing makes a coyote look better than photographing it on the snow and you did a great job with this image. The coyote is nicely positioned, beautifully exposed and sharp.

Very nice Ron. Excellent detail, nice color, good detail/sharpness in the eye. I also like how I can only see detail in the snow on the focal planae of the subject with the rest of it fading off into the whiteness.

Got to love a Coyote in the snow. Good pose, detail and perfect exposure.

I agree with all the comments but especially Steve C's that noticed the snow is only sharp in the plane of the coyote. That makes the large expanse of white FG work for me. Excellent image.

Beautiful image Ron. I will never ever get the chance to make pictures of animals in the snow here in Botswana and I cannot say that it is something I regret, yet snow can make a great environment to isolate a subject form any other visible element the environment.
