    Default Moremi Lion

The dappled light really enhances the mane on this fine male as he makes his way through the tall yellow grass of the Moremi GR. Botswana Sept '09.

    C & C most welcome

Marc, I'm a bit ambivalent looking at this image, at least at first viewing. I really love the intent look on the lion, I like the feeling of him moving through the grass and agree that the light enhances the photograph. I'm just not so sure about all the oof grasses covering the face, although I can see how it gives more of the feeling of him being in the grass, I just don't know. Having said that, I really like the quality of the image but I'll have to come back and look at it again to decide on that grass. :o

Thanks Hilary, know what you mean.
I guess I was trying to convey him slinking through the tall stuff. When I first viewed the RAW file it looked like a fog haze, it came up quite well in ACR 6.2.

    Hi Marc,
I think if you show only the head and the mane, then the image would be stronger. Wish you had the eye a bit clearer and some more space at the bottom.

    Cheers,

Hi Marc, I'm sort of on the fence about this image too. I think to have really pulled it off you needed a lower perspective which I know probably wasn't possible from the vehicle. I think because you are shooting down on him, you lose the slinking feeling. Sabyasachi's suggested crop might work though.

    Rachel

It's nice to see someone embracing an apparently very unpromising situation like this. My first reaction was "huh?" but I see what you saw in it now. I agree with above - this intention may become clearer to me if cropped at least top and right. Very interesting idea and lovely colours.

    Marc,

I feel as Hilary does and think Sabyasachi is onto something. I first thought this would work better tighter or looser with room for the virtual feet.

Appreciate the comments everyone, I was really trying to convey a Ghost and the Darkness feel to the image.

Hi Marc....I like the image as presented. The oof grass does not bother me at all.....sort of dreamy....love the texture in the lion!

    Marc,
I think this works pretty well, it is not often that OOF grasss enhances the image.
