Looks like the heron family is popular for this month's project! We've had posts of some in marshes, swamps, boreal forests, and now here's one at a river's edge:). The Ottawa River runs between two provinces - what you see in the BG is the province of Quebec and the start of the Gatineau Hills.

Very different habitat type shot , and very effective. I love the placement of the bird in the lower right portiton. Makes for a very strong image.

Daniel, I like these shots a lot. Loved the ripples in the water and the hazy BG. Nice clarity on the bird...feels like I am sitting on the bank and watching the scene.

Daniel, I wish we could see the face of the bird more clearly. I like the composition.

    Hi Daniel,
The composition is great and shows the environment very well.
I wonder if the Heron could do with a little contrast boost or the blacks increasing in some way.

    Cheers

Great comp and use of space. Like the mood captured and environment showing in the bg.. IMG is sharp and well exposed.

Hi Daniel. I was wondering what the project criteria might be for showing birds in their habitat. This is a beautiful example. I love the calmness of the water, the reflection, and the shore in the background. I'm wondering how this might look with a little less sky and a bit more water?
