When we get a tidal surge there are pools formed along the beach which attracts the birds. Makes for some pleasing settings as well as great opportunities as we can move around to take full advantage of the magic light in the AM and PM. This Juvi was content to just sit and preen in the cool water.
I cropped it for posting , trying to be a little different. Not sure if it works so I put it out to the "experts" for your valued oppinions.

Well, I am no expert but will comment anyway. I like this image and appreciate seeing a young skimmer, very interesting. I like the composition but would prefer a little less on the bottom and right. It somehow seems the bird is a bit small in the total image. The reflection and the blurred ripples are beautiful.

Joe, I don't love tight crops so this one works for me. I like the ripples and the open mouth.

I actually like the crop and the pose Joe. Not to beat a dead horse but you've got that same color cast that I've seen in several of your previous images. Here's a repost with some color rebalancing.

I like your comp Joe, I think it works well. Good pose with the open bill. Doug's colour balance repost is spot on.

P.S. there is a dust bunny close at left edge and another near LLC that needs to be taken care of;)

    Doug,
Thanks for your concern on the color cast. I shoot most of my images with a cloudy white balance as I tend to lean towards the warmer tones. I think that is what we are seeing. I like the re-post as well as the original. I guess a matter of taste is also in effect. In the future I will process both ways and make a choice at that time. Thanks again Doug. Much appreciated.

Hey Joe, Sorry I missed you last night but I was laying on a tarmac shooting Baird's and Buff-breasted Sandpipers.
I like the colors on Doug's correction better but as you said, "it's a matter of taste". Loved your whole series of skimmer shots.
See you at Nickerson any day now;)
