    Ditto Peter on details and SH. Way lower was the way to go here. Can anyone age this bird?

    Peter, my gitzo was wide open and literally touching the sand and I was lying flat on the beach.
    I guess due to the size of this bird, slight angle makes it look like shooting from a much higher angle.

    This was shot in July if this would help in identifying the age of it.

    It would seem to me that your memory is a bit off on the above. This image was not made from the same level as the bird :) Perhaps you were lying on a mound....

    Lens mounted on gimbal. Yeah could have taken off the tripod and gotten a bit lower. Great lesson learned, such tiny adjustment would make a great difference.
