Got to Brigantine just after sunrise Friday morning, and one of the first birds I saw was this elusive little fellow. Managed to capture him without a lot of intrusive reeds and shadows this time, but he wouldn't let me get real close, thus the large crop. (Also see vert. version below) C&C appreciated.

Here's the same image in a vertical presentation. I think I like a little bit of habitat as in the OP, but curious how others feel.

I was going to suggest a vert. before I saw the post. Habitat articals are good , but I think too much OOF stuff distracts from this fine image. Stay with the Vertical,IMHO.

The vertical has a much stronger composition, I love the branch tip poiting at the corner. The top one doesn't feature much habitat per say but rather OOF branches that don't add much IMO. Exposure and details look good.

Bill, I like a hint of habitat but agree with the other that in this case the more simple, vertical presentation is more effective.

    Bill,

The vertical wins hands down. A very strong image

OK. Vertical it is. Thank you all for looking, and for the helpful feedback.
