Default Newport Back Bay Early Light

Two landscape shots - merged pano.

    D3 200f/2 + TC17EII (340mm) both taken at 1/80 @ f/5 ISO3200 HH VR, 14 seconds apart.
Merged with ptGUI, smartblend cropped to 5854 x 2425 from 5964x2594 about a 60% overlap laterally, but spaced 14 seconds apart. I'm guessing most of the skimmers are in the merged photo twice. Some color work in LAB curves, NR and light sharpening. Some artificial light reflection removal.

This was captured the day after Christmas, 2007 and was my first excursion to specifically shoot birds (had my newly acquired, newly released D3). I merged & processed the shots today.

    Thanks for looking...

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Hi Michael, thanks for posting a birdscape! I think you got a very nice result with some subtle blurring. Your concept is interesting and I like the variety of birds you got in the captures. Good job with the merging.

Michael, I think you did a good job w/ the merge also. I'm not real fond of the dark strip at the top but see the dilemma with cropping down. Looks to be quite an assortment of birds!

    Nice image and application, Michael.

    Good merge effect.

I might have leveled the far bank and maybe included a little more of the vegitation in that area, possiby cutting off the bottom bank, if it were mine.

    Kerry, Denise, Mark,

Greetings. Thanks much for the comments... can't make it out from this but the actual scene contained at least a dozen species mostly in separate little groups... Haven't seen something like it since.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-
