Another shorebird to join the current set of images being posted. This was one of a small flock roosting at high tide in Wolfville, Nova Scotia today.

    D300, 300 f/4 AF-S + 1.4TC, hand-held, 1/2000, f5.6, ISO 400.

Harsh afternoon light, but the proximity of the birds here is governed by the tide, and today it was high at 4pm. I couldn't have got any lower without falling over a cliff.

    Thanks for looking.

From the looks of it you needn't go any lower here - looks just fine. Nice alert pose, and you got a good HA to go with it. I kinda like the molting plumage too. The contraty look from the harsh light could be tamed by using a reverse S-curve. I would also like less space behind the bird, and more above (and in front to retain the current aspect ratio).

Great HA and nice clean BG Richard. Agree with Daniel on trying to tone down the brightness. I might also clone out the white spots on the rock.
