Started with a wild rose, squared image, applied polar coordinates and found a butterfly :) .
    Image blended with frac layer.
    All C&C welcome.

Awesome Steve! The colors and the BF are perfect. I really like the center of the flower comes up from the bottom. Nicely done.:)

I like the comp on this one, the BF and the flower center at the bottom. I'd never have known it was a rose!

Very nice! Great use of PC. Care to share the original image of the rose?

    Sure Douglas.
I'm pretty sure this is the one I started with... or one very similar.
Here is how you could duplicate the process up to the frac blend...

    - Crop tight to flower petals.
    - Change IMAGE SIZE to square and uncheck CONSTRAIN.
    - Filter > PC (use Polar to Rectangular)
    - Rotate image 180 degrees
    - Filter > PC (use Rectangular to Polar)

There might be other ways to get there but this is what I did.:)

Steve, this is really neat! It does look like it's own little mini world. The stamens look like little mushrooms and I love the butterfly.:)

I love it! You ended up with a really unique image. I have tried this process a few times, slightly different way to get there, as you said, and you just never know what effect you will have. I have had more to go to trash, then to save, but it is fun. " Surprise package" lol

That's a home run in my book Steve! Really nice job on this one. Love the colors and the amazing transformation. These are really fun to do and difficult to visualize. Nice!

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for posting the starting rose. It helps me see how you made it all come together. Excellent final product. I'm inspired.
