Nice one, Bill. I've never seen a juvi of this species. This one has almost an Audubon print sort of feeling to it. Great detail, soft light (and those amazing feet). I might be tempted to evict the right-hand part of the perch if you can make a natural-looking transition.
Hi Bill - does have a very nice feel to it - HA is good, like the pose and the clean BG.
Never seen a Juvi one of these guys -so not sure about the colours - wondering if there is a slight yellow cast to the image??
I've never seen this bird period - what an amazing little guy! I also agree that there might be a color cast to check into but it does give an "Audobon" feel to the image.
Another vote for getting rid of or minimizing the OOF section of the perch.
Bird, light, and mood killer wonderful. Not sure about a color cast. Be right back.

Appeciate the comments. One problem with the right hand part of the perch (the vertical element) could be removed pretty easily, but the remaining area would still be OOF, and solving that much more difficult; cloning from another image a possibility I'm not sure worth the effort. The mentioned yellowish "color cast" could be close to the actual color or an effect of the lighting. I'm not sure at this point. I'll take a look other images of juvi gallinules, with this in mind, that I've taken with different lighting, etc. Thanks! regards~Bill
Agree. But it still looks better cleaner :) I need to recalibrate as stuff is looking green only when I bring it into Photoshop.... I love the image and the soft light.

Lovely image Bill. The pose looks great, with nice HA and eye contact. The angle here slightly looking upwards is very nice, as is Arthur's repost with the branch removed from the left.
Bill, you did a fine job making this image. I'm adding a repost that is purely based on my preferences. Artie took care of the main points. If this image were mine, I would lighten it a little more overall, and give the eye a bit of individual love (lightened just a tad). Then I'd modify the comp to what I've attached. It feels more balanced in my opinion. Thanks so much for posting.
I forgot to mention that I cheated a little and started with one of Artie's reposts :D
