A Friend of mine told me about a spot we could go to. The only thing was we had to get up at 4:00am to get to the location. Well being that it was so early in the early morning, I forgot to set my Iso to the correct level. I had it at 1600. NOT GOOD>shame on me.

4 AM? I probably would have forgotten to reset the ISO too!

Vince, the HA is not all that terrific with him looking away from you but you did a good job of including the entire bird in focus and still managed to get some room for his "imaginary feet." I probably would have gone with a vertical presentation here because the bird is so tall and long and the area to the left of him is rather washed out. If you have a little more room up top, I think that would also help as the head of the GBH is pretty close to the edge of the frame.

Hi Vince. Agree with Julie, especially using a vertical format, and I might add that a much lower viewing angle would help, mainly to minimize the impact a uninteresting background. I don't understand your ISO comment, for ISO 1600 seems appropriate. Any lower would likely force a lower shutter speed, and as is 1/200 sec is too slow in the first place. There is the option to increase ISO, but with my camera at least above ISO 1600 causes problems. For a large bird F8 in the ballpark, but here I would opened it up since the bird is relatively parallel to the sensor. For reducing the occurance of noise pushing exposure would have worked well under the apparent low contrast light here. regards~Bill
