    Default Mario at the beach

Hi all, I have been out of BPN for a couple of months due to good (holidays) and not so good (a lot of work) reasons :p
This portrait of my son 4yo Mario is from our recent family holidays in the Alentejo (Portugal) an amazing place that I discovered last year and that we returned this summer. Fantastic people there, by the way.
Mario was playing in the sand if the beach (I cloned out several grains of sand from the face but decided to keep others untouched) wearing his mother hat. the light was not great, strong and harsh, but under the shadow of the hat, the light was producing a wonderfull pattern of textures that reminds to me the plumage of a guinea fowl. Mario portrayed like a real pro and allowed a long series of images at very close distance so it was a real joy to make different compositions of the scene. That is very nice for something like me that shots birds in flight, subjects that barely give to you more than a fraction of a second to compose, focus, adjust exposure and release the shutter :p

Wonderful portrait. Love the use off the patterns from the hat. great way to tame the harsh light.

Beautiful image, Juan. Now if only we could get birds to let us put these hats on them so we could shoot in the middle of the day! The light pattern here is wonderful and takes this image over the top.

Peter you are right about the straps but it was my fault not to discover them until I saw the images in the computer. Anthow, the light was so intense that the screen in my D300 was not very useful ;)
Portugal has been a really nice place to visit and birds are more tame than I am used in the south of Spain. A lot of good oportunities to photograph white storks, gulls, swifts, kestrels and many more. I will return there for sure

Sometimes I wonder if he is not a "clon" of his mother :D:D
