Spring Iris

I photographed this iris this past spring. I used a slightly different technique than my norm for this image. I applied one of my textures three times, using multiply at 43% opacity, second using screen at 40% opacity, and third using overlay at 56% opacity. I then copied the flower layer, moved it on top of the texture stack, and set it to overlay at 59% opacity. Finally I adjusted the colors because the texture had given the image a yellow cast and added a slight orton effect. Any comments and suggestions would be most appreciated.

Christopher, This is just fantastic! The colors and the composition come together nicely. The tiny little spot on the right side of the flower and at the lower edge I might remove. The stem fades into the BG perfectly.:)

I have used your idea of copying the original image and putting in on to of the other layers and blending it in and I like the results! Many thanks for sharing. Once I catch up on some house chores--such as painting--I will rejoin this forum.
