This was taken in Costa Rica in January. I don't have my Birds of Costa Rica handy so I can't give the full name. This was taken in harsh light at Manys Place outside of Uvita. All C&Cs are appreciated.

Magnificent looking subject offset by a very complimentary BG. Beautiful detail as well.

You handled the harsh light well. Not easy to get a clean look at a Trogon. I might remove the bit of blue sky and pull the brightness and contrast of the bird down just a hair.

Killer beautiful bird. Love the COMP and the open bill. But harsh, off-angled light is a killer too.... I would try toning down the YELLOWs and running a reverse S Curve to reduce the contrast. I do believe that this can be improved substantially in post.

I agree that some additional TLC in post production would be great, especially with the suggestions already offered. I would have preferred the head tilted less upwards, but still an overall good calling pose - and of course the vertical comp was the obvious choice here.

Jim, looks pretty good, and I think you received some good feedback already. I would place my bet on this being a female violaceous trogon.

I agree with Greg, this is a female Violaceous Trogon, look at the elliptical whitish orbital ring. Some good feedback above. Love the pose, the size of the perch which is proportional to the bird and the open beak.

Great pose and comp. Like the bg and eye. Subject is sharp and well exposed.
