    Default Caspian Tern

This banded individual was photographed while landing amongst a mixed group of gulls and terns. The BG is the orange bluffs behind the beach.

I cleaned up the lower area of the BG extensively and evicted a gull's wing intruding on the left side.

Very sharp with a solid exposure. Good head angle. Too bad about the bands. BG is different; I'm having a tough time with the color. I wonder how it would look desaturated a few clicks.

zI like the wing and tail action -- atfirst I washoping for the background to be the blues of water or sky - but the more I look at it -- the background color works as presented -- god flight shot

Cool pose, killer good head angle, sharp, and nice underwing detail. Strange how the primaries are so much darker on one side than the other.

Thanks everyone. I know the background is unusual, but I don't mind it much. I'm not sure why the primaries are darker on the right.

I like the stretched neck pose, and the bird pops nicely from the BG. Speaking of which, I would wotk a bit more on the area you describe as the texture of the BG is different there, making it look a bit suspect (notice the smooth horizontal-like "sweeping" in LRC compared to the rest of the more "mottled" BG?)

The BG works for me, though I now see Daniel's point about the PP there. But I think the color works with the overall warm feel of the image.

Aidan, loved the crop. This is perfectly exposed. Beautiful BG.

One of my fovorite terns species and you portrayed it quite good. Light is just sweet, eye contact works perfect and whites are spot on. Superb BG and pose. Regarding the bands in the legs, at least, their color matchs the bill color quite nicely :) Very good job getting this beauty

Great sharpness and exposure is nailed. Like the pose, eye contact and killer bg
