This is turning out to be unofficial shorebirds week here. This guy was on a serious mission...running around and trying to catch everything he could see. Had to use high SS to freeze it.

    40D. 400 f/5.6L at f/7.1. iso 320. 1/2500s. exp. comp 0.

    All C&C welcome.

Love that raised leg and nice head angle. Good light and a low shooting angle help. The bird could stand some additional sharpening IMO, and the tip of the bill looks a little smudged.

Hi Kaustubh. Nice forward-leaning pose and sense of implied motion. Lovely HA and BG. Ditto Doug's comments about a tad more USM (and maybe a tiny bit of contrast boost?)

    Hi Kaustubh,

I like this as presented. Composition, foot, size in frame and catchlight. Maybe a little more USM.

Kaustubh, I like the pose and the water color. I agree w/ Doug regarding some more sharpening. Sometimes they just won't stay still. Lovely exposure.

Thx everyone. I'll do some more sharpening. The bird was so moving fast and I could not keep the focus point on the head. DOF did some damage control but not enough. Thx for all the constructive feedback.

Great strong comp and DOF. Like the foot up pose. Subject is well exposed and sharp. Well done :)
