At Grand Pre, NS recently. I felt the wet rock was imprtant part of the comp., so I didn't crop it.

Looks sharp and DOF covers the bird well, Richard. Agree that the rock is a an important part of the image. If you have enough image to play with I would try more of a crop eliminating the dry part of the rock as I feel it simplifies and strengthens the image.

Very good crop by Tony. Here is an alternative with darker water and rock and some bill clean-up. A head turn to 90 degrees is generally best for over the shoulder poses. Image quality is poor with lots of artifacting around the edges of the bird; is this a large crop or a poorly prepared JPEG?
I like the bird--a juvenal plumage Least Sandpiper--and the d-o-f. EXP and SH good too.

Nice job with your exposure, DOF, and sharpness. I like Tony's crop; the original includes a bit too much environment (which doesn't have a whole lot going on visually). I also see a bit of artifacting around the bird, like Artie mentioned.
