We had icy cold rain and strong north, northeast winds on the Long Island IPT this morning: par for the course, but also par for the course has been great photography. This Great Black-backed Gull attacked and killed a young Black Skimmer in just seconds and then took almost 30 minutes to finish its lunch.

Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens with the EOS-1D MIV. ISO 400. Evaluative metering +2 stops: 1/640 sec. at f/5.6.

Artie, I like this vertical crop as there is lot of impact because of the prey. I am sure you must have made wonderful horizontal images as well. exposure spot on as usual.

I would like to see a horizontal crop. One leg into the frame makes it strange to me.
