A too-cute (IMO!) image taken earlier this summer. They were almost always hanging out in the brigh blue water so I was happy when they drifted into some green reflections. The tiny fluff-ball needed a second round of sharpening to make it look as sharp as mother (or father) for web posting:).
Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/100s., f/9, ISO 800, no EC, natural light, handheld, ~70% FF, a few minor bits of debris removed from water via the patch tool.
Over all a nice image. I feel that the birds are a bit too small in the frame. I guess the oof chick won't allow further cropping even for web presentation.
I love the angle at which they are swimming to you and both head angles work. I love the green, the COMP as presented, and the sizes of the birds in the frame. Both birds look a tad over-sharpened to me. All is all I love it.
