    Default Narcissus Flycatcher in Flight

I photographed this male Narcissus Flycatcher as it was trying to hover over a small mountain pond. Post processing included cropping, desaturation & NR of the bg, brightening of the head and sharpening of the subject. Canon EOS 7D, EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM + 1.4x TC, 580EX & 430EX II Speedlites (remote wireless), Gitzo Mountaineer GT3531, Gitzo GH3780QR Ballhead, Camo netting.

I forgot to mention the exposure: 1/250 sec at f/5.6; ISO 400; FEC +1

Great detail in the yellows and other colours too. I wish the background was a different colour than the bird, it would provide more contrast and the bird would jump out more. Also wish the head angle was towards us and not the other way.

Surprisingly sharp image for that shutter speed, imo. A faster shutter speed would have made the tail less blurry. I don't know much about Canon cameras but next time you could try increasing the ISO so that you can decrease the shutter speed.
    Keep them coming!

When flash is used at strong settings, or as main light, you can stop very fast action at surprisingly slow SS.

As pointed out, too bad the bird is flying away, and it looks like some of the yellows are still too strong. BG has some distracting elements. Your timing was very good though, and I like the full spread of the downward wing.
